Meet AL
Albert Lara, known throughout the community as AL, believes Palmetto Bay isn’t just a place — it’s home. It’s a community built on families, neighbors looking out for one another, and a shared pride in the quality of life that makes the village special. Local government, he believes, should reflect those values: practical, transparent, and focused on residents first.
This campaign is about protecting what makes Palmetto Bay unique while ensuring local government operates efficiently, responsibly, and always in the best interest of the people it serves.
DEDICATED TO THE COMMUNITY
A Commitment to Palmetto Bay
Al Lara has spent nearly two decades building strong, trusted relationships with local law enforcement, community leaders, and civic organizations across Miami-Dade County. With over 18 years of close collaboration with the Sweetwater Police Department, Al understands firsthand the importance of public safety, accountability, and cooperation between elected officials and those who serve on the front lines.
As part of his commitment to Palmetto Bay, Al has made it a priority to strengthen relationships with the Palmetto Bay Police Department, working to ensure open communication, mutual respect, and support for the officers who protect our community every day. Public safety is not just a talking point for Al—it is a responsibility built on relationships, trust, and long-term engagement.
Al brings a strong understanding of local government through years of firsthand experience and long-standing relationships with respected leaders across Miami-Dade County. He has worked closely with Mayor Jose “Pepe” Diaz, the current Mayor of Sweetwater and former Miami-Dade County Commissioner, gaining valuable insight into how effective leadership and collaboration can deliver real results for residents. Public service runs deep in Al’s family as well, his brother serves as a Commissioner for the City of Coral Gables, further grounding Al in the realities of municipal governance.
In addition to his public safety and government experience, Al has participated in regional conversations around economic development, infrastructure, and responsible growth, contributing to initiatives that directly impact the quality of life for Palmetto Bay residents.
Al Lara is running for Palmetto Bay Council Seat 3 to bring experience, trusted relationships, and a steady, community-first approach to local government. His focus is simple: support public safety, strengthen partnerships, and ensure Palmetto Bay continues to be a safe, well-managed, and thriving community for families today and for generations to come.
